Simon Carter
Simon Carter’s dynamic coastal and landscape paintings are shaped by daily walks through the Essex countryside. Through expressive brushwork and an obsessive quest to deconstruct visual plaes, he captures the temporal rhythms of light, weather, and season in his abstract paintings. His process-driven approach reflects both observation and memory, giving his work a visceral, lived immediacy. Carter is a leading figure in East Anglia’s contemporary art scene, who has had solo exhibitions at Gainsborough’s House, Firstsite and The Minories, and is a former president of Colchester Art Society.
